Fire alarm certification

I am interested in taking a class on fire alarm and eventually would like to become certified I suppose. Ive heard of IMSA certification but I am wondering if this is a good standard of education. Also I am wondering where I could take a class like this (in the Chicago land area).

Any insight would be helpful.

I would look into the NICET cert. It is well established.

All the jobs we do in New England the spec calls for Nicet cert.
