Land line Tel communicator – where did the requirement for two POTS lines come from (building code?, NFPA 72?)


If replaced by cellular or internet communication – what is the requirement? (i.e. just one communicator?)
 
You need to check with your jurisdiction on how they interpret NFPA 72 sections 26.6.4 (Digital Alarm Communicator Systems) and 26.6.3 (Communications Methods for Supervising Station Alarm Systems). These sections outline requirements for including the use of two separate transmission means.
