This is fairly normal in NYC. Protect the devices and tie them up. Go offline during the day, most central stations will allow 8hrs at a time. Most of the time the old devices are left until the new system is operational.

So fire watch would be required areound the clock..?? Think it would be tough and take testing, modification at the end of each shift to bring system back online. No? Thanks

You either have an operational fire alarm system or a fire watch there is no third option.

We had a 16 story building in Boston that fire watch was costing almost $25,000 week while we quickly as we could installed a temporary fire alarm while a new system was designed purchased and installed permanently.

Thanks. Wow..did you have dedicated guys for fire watch on each floor? So if it's for one floor do you need 2 guys to perform fire watch?

In that case the FD was requiring three firefighters on site 24/7 each assigned a number of floors to walk around.

As was mentioned each area will be different.

I saw one once where the sprinkler guy was playing on his phone, leaned up against a tree across the street. I didn't quite get that one, I suppose people leaping out of windows on fire were going to tip him off...

Was that after you did condos in the 80's?
