I need to run microphone wire closer to a fireplace, is there any special consideration to be taken regarding distance from a chimney, because it's supposed that will be insulation.
Thanks

Masonry or metal chimney?

Shielded twisted pair wire? Concentric? Does the wire have any rating?

And what does "close" mean here? Will it be exposed? Above, below, or beside? Permanently routed or occasionally flung around?

Yeah. You are really going to have to give us more information here about the fireplace construction and where you want to run the wire.

Also, microphone wire is a little unusual in this case unless you are really talking about the "coax" type unbalanced audio cable.

Why don't you start what exactly what you are wanting to do?

Masonery, the cable is Belden 9451 2 #22 PP FS PVC FR, the distance is about 2 feet.

Its a barn with two floors and the only route available is closer to the chimney.

I was afraid if a 2 feet the heat could affect the cable.

Thanks

Belden 9451, used a lot of it. It has a PVC jacket. Unless the chimney gets really hot I don't think it being two feet away is going to cause it to be hot enough to damage it.
