Hello All, The code allows a disconnecting means, sized appropriately, between the source and the firepump. Does a transfer switch between utility and generater qualify as a code violation as a second disconnecting means ? Thanks

Re: Firepump disconnect

First, I don't understand your question. Please clarify exactly how your general service and fire pump service are laid out. Second, a transfer switch is not a disconnect. It is a transfer switch. However, a transfer switch may or may not contain a circuit breaker(s) that serve as a main disconnecting means depending on the application. Which takes us back to question 1. How is this put together ?

Re: Firepump disconnect

Hmm...haven't seen a transfer switch with breaker(s).
Transfer switch does not qualify as a "disconnecting means"
