Do not know of any code on that. Are you not mixing it up with 230.72 excp. and/or 230.82?

You might be talking about 695.3(A)(1) but I'm not sure I'm understanding your question.:-?

My question is I have a 400 amp meter with a ct cabinet that I am using for the general plp load & I am also installing a 400 amp disconnect switch for a fire pump can I tap out of that same ct cabinet or I haveto install a seperate meter for the f/p switch?

This is a great article http://ecmweb.com/mag/electric_abcs_fire_pump/index.html

Let's begin with a review of the situation where you have one building, one fire pump, and one power source (from the utility). The major issue is that you will need to run a dedicated feeder from the service transformer (just after the metering equipment) to the fire pump. NEC 695.3 (A)(1) prevents you from coming off of the main service equipment.

If your feeder is before the metering equipment, the utility will install a second set of meters on it. Initially, this is not a big deal. The owner simply has to pay an additional monthly meter charge......
