I’m getting ready to install my first 10kw Generac dc coupled system. I have a second one 15kw on order to do as soon as the parts come in.

This one is on a garage with a metal roof. I have 4 strings of 6 415 watt panels. Do you guys prefer to combine your strings on the roof or get off the roof and go to a combiner box/disconnect? Any recommendations for good residential disconnects and combiner boxes?

If I combine it near the edge of the roof I could transition to thhn since it’ll be in the warmer ambient temperature for only a couple feet and use smaller conduit but it is one more place to worry about a connection going bad over the years.

What are your thoughts?

I decided to go with this in case anybody else is looking for good ways to transition. They have lots of different options to combine or pass through.
