That's what it's called around here. Outside of this forum I never hear it being called fixture whip.
I don't know. Maybe a regional thing but, I've always heard of it as a whip. Here is a few sources I've found also referencing as a whip.

The thread title is fixture tail which is familiar to me since that's what they've been called since my first day in the business. Since myself and Horsegoer eat a lot of the same dirt we can relate to that name.
