Not exactly sure what type cast box would be used in this situation. A little confused by spec(see below). Also attached detail pick of fixture mounted to the cast j-box. These are parking garage fixtures.

Boxes for lighting fixture installation shall be 4-inch square, minimum 2 1/8-inch
deep, and provided with 3/8-inch studs.


Unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings, provide galvanized,
code-gauge, sheet-steel junction and pull boxes and covers for interior locations
and cast-metal boxes and covers for exterior locations of types, shapes and sizes
to suit each respective location and installation, and equipped with stainless steel
hinges, nuts, bolts, screws and washers.

Interior boxes would just be standard 4 x 4 squares. RGS is wasted with these IMO.

Exterior would probably be FS/FD for use with RGS from your other thread.

The studs mentioned are usually a bracket and a piece of "lamp" thread that comes with the fixture or can be purchased separately.

Not sure that interior parking garage boxes would be standard stamped steel 4x4 boxes. Think they are referring to(both detail and spec) WP type box.

I am not seeing that. sheet metal boxes are stamped and FS/FD boxes are cast. Bell boxes are cast also, but are aluminum IIRC.

Right but the fixture details for the parking garage fixtures are asking for cast boxes.

There is no such thing as a "cast" sheet metal box.

If you want to spec cast FS/FD boxes for this type of interior use, you will probably get slammed for waste of money IMO.

So guys of you have to provide a CAST metal box for the parking garage fixture shown in the detail(which also calls for a cast box) what kind of box would you provide. Link or pic of one would be helpful. Thanks. Thinking this is the way to go.

BTW, a cast box is usually weatherproof, correct?
