I receive many plans from general contractors for small residential remodeling projects. These plans always contain a list of light fixtures. I have noticed that the light fixtures specified are, in my opinion, several years out of date. That is, they specify florescent light fixtures, keyless porcelain fixtures, puck lights, etc.

Are these fixtures generated by a computer program or did someone truly want these fixtures installed?

Its probably boiler plate that keeps getting reused. Perhaps a key is they use the term fixtures, which is something that flushes. Many cycles ago the NEC changed fixture to luminaires.

Are these plans coming from a single designer or architect?
