And why do they have these cheap plastic sockets?

Because that is what sells.

There are more expensive fixtures out there if the HO wants to pay for them.

If you buy a fixture that is rated 60 watts you should not be disappointed it fails with a 100 watt lamp.

To me that would be like blaming 14 AWG for failing when used for a 30 amp load.

If someone asks one of us to remove stickers, hand them the photo; if they insist, affix the sticker to the photo and hand it to them.

This was 5 years ago (more or less). I sure wish I had a camera at the time. I would be sure to take a picture today!
