We are doing a Dry Cleaning plant with a Boiler Room that has a fire rated drop ceiling going in it.

Prints show two 2 x 2 fluorescent fixtures, but no particular brand or model # spec'd

My question is, Are there special lay in fixtures for fire rated grid type drop ceilings ?

Thanks for your input

You can get typical lay-in troffers with labels that say they are fire rated.

My understanding is that (at least sometimes) they are exactly the same as a non-rated troffer, except they don't label the fixture unless you ask for it.

For example, a Lithonia 2GT8 with the "FR" option is labeled for fire rated ceilings.

Ken, along with what the others have posted, the ceiling itself will have a design such as UL Design No. A202 You can then find the requirements of the particular design and what the fixtures need as far as their listing, any manufacturer can help you with this.

You can seach for other designs here
