Anyone of you guys who use the flat rate book care to give me a pricing example?

What would a basic switch relocate from an existing wall that is being removed, to another existing wall? switch leg is long enough and it's a simple fish.

I use this example because I tend to do a lot of these in one local subdivision that's being rehabilitated under some sort of grant. So I know the cost of this particular job very well.

It Depends on how the existing switch is being fed. Does the home run go to the existing switch and one switch leg comes out?
Is it feeding other receptacles?
Or is a receptacle feeding the switch?
Does the light outlet have a homerun and the switchleg fed from the light outlet to the switch?

Depending on what scenario, The switch leg based on our labor rates would be $250 to $330
Junction box in attic $55
New switch $51

$356 - $436

I hope this helps.

When I was working for an outfit that did mostly residential and rehab work, everything was unit priced. Keep in mind these prices were from 2007, but with the economy the way it is, they might be right there. This also changes from place to place.

New Work:
Switch/Receptacle - $60.00
3-Way - $70.00
4-Way - $82.00
Surface Mounted Light - $65.00
Outside Light - $75.00
etc.

Old Work/Remodel:
Switch/Receptacle - $110.00
Surface Mounted Light - $115.00
OutsiPaddle Fan - $175.00
etc.

Any snaked opening was typically 110.00. Our hourly rate was 100.00/hr and the 10.00 usually covered the material cost. Most snaked openings we counted on taking an hour. Some went easy and some did not. They always tended to average out.

Hope this helps.

Also to add...Our service call rate was 150.00 for the first hour (including travel) plus materials. Therefore, the minimum charge, if completed within the hour, would be 150.00 plus materials.
