Is there any code stating that when connecting a 25h.p air compressor you need to run flex from end of pipe to unit.I can understandif the unit is vibrating but it is setting on mounting pads and also has a e.g.c ran back to panel. Was informed that it is code to flex I've been checking book but not having any luck finding the art, pertaining to this. Thanks

I do not think you will find an NEC requirement for flex in this location.

That said I would and always have used flex for this type of installation.

Is there a good reason not to use flex for the last foot or so?

There are good reason to use flex.

The only thing I could find was a commentary that it is a good practice to use flex on any motor. It should be less than 6ft. and contain a egc.

I agree with that comment.

It is on mounting pads for a reason, if the mount should flex so should your wiring method. I would use the flex .
