I have MH lighting in an area feed with one branch circuit. Do MH fixtures exhibit strobe conditions much like single lamp floresent fixtures use to? Would I be better off suppling these fixtures from different phases?

I believe that it depends on the type of ballast used.
In the case of magnetic ballasts, there will be a flicker at twice line frequency, i.e, at 120 times a second. just as with flourescent lamps.

With electronic ballasts, the frequency is so high that the flicker is not noticable.

Most MH ballasts are magnetic, but electronic ones do exist.

If your ballasts are magnetic, then supplying them from two or three phases would appear prudent especialy if this is a factory or workshop with moving machinery.

There is no reason that one circuit should cause MH fixtures to flicker. If your

fixtures are 'strobing' there is something else wrong, ie: check ballast type

with lamp type. pulse ballast needs pulse lamp etc.
