This is a time where the rich get richer.Neighbors place was listed at $212,000 7 months ago,now at 160 for 2 months and no takers.Residential other than custom homes is over.Nobody can afford them.I been here since 73 and never seen it this bad before.
I have been told that there are now more people leaving Florida, than they are moving to Florida? In unsure times like these I am glad to be a small outfit. You need "flexability" now!

Here is a good link ,I wonder what the code change was in New York

Housing Starts Declined In June, Headline Is Misleading

Housing starts rose 9.1% in June to an annual rate of 1.066 million units, following a 2.7% drop
in the prior month. At first blush this reading suggests a turnaround in construction of new homes.
Unfortunately, a change in construction codes in New York City accounted for the increase in
housing starts and permits in the Northeast. If it were not for the change, total housing starts
would have fallen 4.0% according to the Census Bureau. On a regional basis, starts of new homes
rose only in the Northeast (+102.6%, due a change in construction code) but dropped in the
Midwest (-10.5%) and West (-8.2%) and edged up 0.4% in the South.

Here is another
Construction losses accounted for 52 percent of the state's total losses, or 81,600 jobs. The next closest job-loss total was less than half that number. The manufacturing sector dropped by 24,900 jobs, or about 6.4 percent of the state's total.
Locally, Palm Beach County posted an unemployment rate of 6 percent; Martin County, 6.2 percent; St. Lucie County, 8.1 percent, and Indian River, 8 percent.

No, it's pretty basic. Almost primitive. If you lack work, move to where there is work and quit sitting around complaining about how bad things are. People who lack water dig a new well. Businesses who don't have enough customers advertise more. Nomads followed animal migrations. Men have traveled for work with their families for centuries when they felt the need. I happen to think there's plenty of work in FL if you're flexible and have diversified your skill set sufficiently over the years.

This is a discussion board ,.people are discussing an issue that is effecting a very large part of the country ... thought your comment was a bit crass is all.

I've always made it a point to get right to the point, if you get my point.

You want someone to magically bestow a job on you, or do you want to go out and hunt one for yourself? If you feel there aren't any near you, go to where some are. Sitting still won't solve anything.

But you still haven't provided any substantiation to your claim in post # 15.

Think outside the box. Let your house get foreclosed on and rent in a new area.

Here's an article from a magazine that hit my desk last week, and in that same magazine an ad from a certain electrical contractor who's going out and getting him some instead of sitting around:

Look at Texas, especially Houston, there is a BOOM in construction and house buying.
