Flouresant bulbs in incandesant light fixtures

Is their a new code , or new energy lighting law in effect that says
we can't use incand. lite fixture with flour. bulbs to meet the new
energy codes. I am hearing now that we can only use flour. fixtures
that are designed with their on bulbs. It sure cost a lot more.
we do alot of apartment complexes, and this can add alot more $
for lighting.

I was going to add its lamps not bulbs, but never mind. Bulbs grow in the ground.

While is is not a NEC code rule it is an energy code in some states. California is one of them.

Here is the residential requirement from the 2012 International Energy Code

SECTION R404 ELECTRICAL POWER AND LIGHTING SYSTEMS (MANDATORY)

R404.1 Lighting equipment (Mandatory).
A minimum of 75 percent of the lamps in permanently installed lighting fixtures shall be high-efficacy lamps or a minimum of 75 percent of the permanently installed lighting fixtures shall contain only high efficacy lamps.

Exception: Low-voltage lighting shall not be required to utilize high-efficiency lamps.

In the 2009 IEC it was 50 percent.

In the world of the punctilious, indeed, but a common and accepted colloquial use of the word bulb means the part that 'makes the light'.

When someone says, 'fluorescent light bulb', I know what they are talking about. But it took some adjustment for me to get to that point, being born with a perfect command of the lexicon of our particular trade and all....
