Flourescent Fixture - Battery backup test switch

Does these test switches need to be accessesible? If fixture doess't have the room to mount the switch facing the front of the fixture, but can easily mount facing the back of the fixture, meaning, you would have to remove a ceiling tile in T-grid to test the light. Is that an approved method of installation.

It wouldn't be for me. I'd say the switch should be accessible from the room.

Maybe yoy can mount it in one of the tombstone (socket) mounting plates.
 
Larry granted it is accessible via a grid tile. What reference do you have? Just asking.

That is a good question. I've looked in the NEC, and the instruction sheet that comes with the Battery backup, and I had no luck finding a method of installation.
 
Have you ever seen a factory made emergency battery back up unit that had the button and the AC power light hidden?

I would find a way to mount it in the fixture, as has been mentioned it often goes in the ballast cover.

I would agree to install the button in the ballast cover. Installing it in a 4' fixture is no problem. However, trying to add a battery backup in a 2 X 2 tropher is kind of a task.
