Can a fluorescent luminaire be used on Arc fault feed branch circuits. I have tried to install them to my dismay. Is there a certain kind that will work with an Arc fault Circuit Breaker. Thank you for the input.

Every house that we do has fluorscent closet lights on AFCI Bedroom circuts.

We have not encountered one problem.

Lukewarmwater,

Maybe it was the type I used. I was told that other Electricians have used flurescent luminaire with no problem either. Thank you for your time.

I think I might only be installing electronic ballasts on my AFCI's. Perhaps you have been using magnetic? (I'm grasping, I haven't encountered a magnetic ballast tripping an AFCI in a long time.

Early Siemens hated fluorescents, but they fixed that. :D

Re: fluorescent luminaire used on Arc fault

Afci`s can be a troubleshooting nightmare,Neurtal to ground faults are the biggest problem.Any load and they trip.A 3 wire Nm that has the cable assy cut close to the bare CU In a switch box will trip an afci :D
