Everyone,

I am a EH&S Manager at an electronics manufacturing facility. I have been wrestling with NFPA 70E. In the personal protective equipment (PPE) section it states that PPE must be worn when there is a hazard from electric arcs, arc flashes and flying objects resulting from electrical explosions. I have been able to resolve my issues with the first two. However, the third has been giving me problems.

What are the minimum conditions needed to create an electrical explosion? I assume there must be an electrical current and some type short but beyond that I'm lost.

Any guidance you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,

MikeCJ

Perhaps more training and education is in order...

The principles and requirements established by the NFPA 70E are highly complicated and require extensive and comprehensive knowledge to be complied with properly.

I would suggest attending an NFPA 70E Seminar...
