Shot-Crete in-place foam walls

Shot-Crete in-place foam walls

If anyone ends up building a hurricane- and seismic-resistant building (or home) that uses 'inverted' sandwich construction like these: http://pmri95.com/PMR/3D_Panel_Uses.html you can use the same methods.

With those 3D panels, the insulating foam is solid and already in the middle, and the shot-crete gets applied to the structural wire mesh sticking out on outer and inner sides (like a 2+inch-thick stucco). Ridiculously solid, pest-proof, and quieter than you can believe if you put in impact-resistant windows too.

The same hot-knife or saws-all methods suggested previously work well for any openings, even windows and doors...but you may need bolt-cutters to remove some welded-wire structure. Also, a simple propane blow-torch works fast as well, since the rigid foam they use melted-back fast without actually catching fire. The electrical back-boxes and flexible/plastic conduit, however, just got tie-wired (exposed) right to the welded-wire structural mesh and routed up to attic access, or down to basement ceiling access, until they were encapsulated by the shot-crete team. Yes, the boxes had to be taped/covered.

Since any exterior outlets can be 'poked-though' to the inside, a fast auger-bit works for simple holes. The exterior shot-crete can be applied almost as soon as the walls are propped up, and the roofing added over the entire structure within another day. Then you have plenty of time to finish out the interior - at least that's what was done for that local house they show as an example. The entire home was 'framed up' in a few days with only a few guys - and lots of gawkers wondering how it happened so fast.

We are familiar with that supplier from working with them using the same product line for underground mine walls and seals as well.
