Ran across this today on a panel in which we will be opening and closing breakers. Gear installed in 1971. Anybody have the history of this label?

But you can talk to 'Exciting people 24 hours a day'.

Right here.
That label is surely newer than 1971. They would have had an Enterprise number for toll-free in 1971, rather than a 1-800 number.

BrianJohn worked for another contractor in the late 70's doing service work for FPE on these defective breakers, if I'm not mistaken. I spoke to a maintenance chief once from a college in Towson, MD regarding a bunch he had repaired under that program in the early 80's (82-83).

If I was a betting man, I'd say they slapped labels on all the breakers known to be bad during that time, until they could schedule them for replacement or repair. This one might have fallen through the cracks when the company was dissolved.

So why are you still here? :D

Chris, does the label look like it's original? (I was 12 in '71, if that helps  ).

i ment as in the job. will you replace the gear?
I'm not worried about two 3? 208V 50A breakers in this panel. It's not service equipment. Soon to follow, a pic of the 4000A FPE main I have to open then close in the same room.

Here is the 37 year old 4000A main I have to throw. I know it has been opened and closed once before as I am the second guy that had to tap this gear.

Any heads ups?

Use a very long pole?

Buttons don't seem to be an option here. Note the gear says discharged. I have never worked on this type and have not done a visual inspection of the mechanism yet.
