I take it you haven't seen one before. How old were you in 71?
16 here, and I haven't seen one.

Where's the one for the 15a-and-up breakers?

That label is surely newer than 1971. They would have had an Enterprise number for toll-free in 1971, rather than a 1-800 number.
Cool! We could have talked to Captain Kirk!

That is a circuit breaker manufactured by Federal Pioneer out of Canada, the only issues we have ever had with these devices is the Blown Fuse Indicators the cheap plastic dry rots and breaks, which can result in placing the switch in a trip position and will not allow re-closing, the device can be cabled tied up for temporary and Federal Pioneer Canada can supply new BFI's. Well up till two years ago, haven't dealt with them in a while.

So why are you still here? :D

Chris, does the label look like it's original? (I was 12 in '71, if that helps  ).
I was 12 too just a little calf drilling holes and pulling this new aluminum romex for all the electric heat the poco was pushing. Dad said just keep drilling and pulling.

I didn't intend to start any FPE bashing here, just got a chuckle out of the label and figured I'd share. And when brian john gets back, I'm still very interested in the history behind this.

I was bored and needed something to do. BTW, I usually don't bash FPE. I see them all over the place and haven't heard of a place burning down because of them although I am sure someone has.

only experience i had so far with FPE is the stab lok breakers in houses and small commercial buildings. they sometimes trip and sometimes they dont. sometimes they take a little longer to trip. we had a short circuit in one house and every single light in the entire house dimmed for about 2 seconds before it tripped

I actually installed some FPE equipment a couple of years ago.
We had 3 "K" rated transformers to install on a job with equipment all made by a major manufacturor(name witheld at this time as I do not know if it is common knowledge). These transformers look exactly the same as their non "K" rated transformers, but had a tag inside from FPE. It was a comment card, with a sharpie, that I filled out and returned. I received a FPE keytag, and a letter with "bet a buck you won't find a better transformer".

Anybody else seen these??

I 'member when I was an itty bitty lecturshun, Mike was up on a ladder and put his Kleins into a box. Sparks started flyin. I though he was a-weldin' up there. Shore nuff, he was. His Kliens were welded to the box. The wire hi grabbed with 'em was gone. FPE breaker never tripped.
