Food For Thought That Causes Vomiting!!!

Food For Thought That Causes Vomiting!!!

Ken
Where do you find some of these pictures???

On Wednesday, a contractor asked me to come help him with some ideas for a proposed job. It is in a building built during the 50s. So, there are some older folks living there. We were in the meter room - very old stuff. What caught my eye was this, to help the workers in the building to remember who needs help with walking, they have walking canes hanging from their meters.

don't like usin nipples? Guess it is for resi though huh?
I'd have used some offset nipples probably if it was something other than resi. I could have even bent a little pipe, which I considered, but I talked myself out of it this morning. The transformer alone was 380 bucks, my cost, so I was just trying to get 'er done. The property manager lady appeared physically ill, actually, when I told her about the violation in the first place that needed corrected, so I wasn't going to make artwork out of it to drive up the cost. Where it's mounted, probably ne'er a soul will even see it for the next 10 years.

Pierre, I've done a couple service changes that were pretty much twins to the one you picture. Underground fed network services, most of them. I did them freestanding, meters on one side of the backboard and tenant disconnects on the other side. Reused existing pipes to tenant panel locations.

I don't have much of a picture to toss into this fracas, just a 1946-vintage 200A Frank Adam main disco and an abandoned CT, from one of my client's buildings.

Glad I only tend to the audio and data wiring in this place...

I guess the person who belongs to the fifth meter from the right on the lower row needs to be carried in and out.

Yikes...

Yikes...

Back on topic, that fourth pic, with the old "A" base meters is the scariest. Especially the meter with NO GLASS on it!!
Edited to add: That and the ghost of meter past in top left, complete with exposed wires hanging in the breeze....

On that third meter from the left, bottom row, between "K7" and "L3"....is that arc flash damage?
