Galv Rigid Conduit In Earth

RobRoy would certainly work, but know one ever uses it for underground out here. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it's cheaper to wrap the pipes (10 mil poly tape is a pretty cheap purchase.) On top of which, we only use RMC when we exit the ground, so it's mostly a matter of nipples or 90's that we have to wrap. Now why we don't use schedule 80 where not prohibited by the spec. is beyond me.

What is "10 mil tape"? Is that basicly the same stuff you'd tape up a package with? Or, is it purpose made for wrapping conduit? I've wrapped RMC stub ups in 3M putty tape before.

I would think the poly would hold moisture close to the conduit, but I suppose you don't get too much of that stuff.

Well yes and no, last year we got about 11 inches. I know that doesn't sound like very much, but you wouldn't think that if you were here the day it fell!
