Receive a call regarding placing a gas generator in a van to operate meat coolers. Since this is not a structure, I am not aware of any regulations that the NEC would address other than gnerator grounding. I feel there or other issues from the health department side with cross contamination of gasoline inside the vehcile with the meat and CO build up, but is there anything addressed by NEC? Thank you.

The person indicated that the generator would be "in" the vehicle. This is a van that is being used to deliver meat. I reviewed the provisions of NFPA 1192 and feel this is the closest I can get to guidance for them. The Board of Health will have to address the vapor proof enclosure, etc. for food service requirements. I believe they intend to use the generator when driving down the road and plugging the freezers in to premise wiring at night. Did not get alot of details, but sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
