... trying to determine sizing for ground for GASTITE.

... the AHJ in my area is requiring a separate bonding jumper for installations using this particular brand of pipe. Just wondering if anyone else is in this situation also? ...

bonding the gas and cold water piping is usually done /allowed at the water heater with 2 clamps and a piece of no 6 copper and meets all the requirements.

correct if its not gas we can usually bond where the cold water and gas enter the wall usually a few feet apart and bond it there.

It was a joke-- jamesshot said you can bond the gas lines at the water heater. I said not if it were an electric water heater.

What happens if you loose your grounding electrode? What becomes a ground? With out looking up the code# now It does state DO NOT USE THE GAS PIPE AS A GROUNDING ELECTRODE.

The gas company takes care of that. If the underground supply pipe in metallic (rare in my area) they install a dielectric fitting between the underground pipe and the meter. This provides electrical isolation for the underground gas pipe and prevents it from becoming an electrode.
