Have 2 gnd rods about 10 feet apart near house service. Have #4 AWG GEC bonding jumper between rods. What is minimum burial depth for this #4? The area between rods will not be subject to physical damage but lawn mower(s) will drive over area. Thanks.

Burial depths are covered in T300.5. Nothing in that table applies to bonding jumpers between rods. We usually bury them a few inches to keep away from the lawn mower.

New wording in the 2014 code makes it clear that 300.5 does not apply to the GEC.
250.64(B) ...Grounding electrode conductors and grounding electrode bonding jumpers shall not be required to comply with 300.5.

Yes, that proposal was written by one of our moderators after some discussion about it here on the forum and should clear up the confusion in Column 1 which mentions burial depth for conductors.

Ok thanks for the feedback. Odd the NEC does not give a minimum burial depth for a GEC Bonding Jumper? It would be ok to just lay it right on top of grade where it would be a possible tripping hazard or get caught by a lawn mower blade. Odd.

I assume the NEC does not give a minimum burial depth if the GEC Bonding Jumper were subject to physical damage? Either kick some dirt on it or put it in raceway...
