Generac generator

I built a house installed a whole house 22k generator and the switch gear is the main before the main in the panel. I’m not ready to start the generator yet but I want to turn on the power to the house. If I turn off the breaker on the generator and turn on the switch gear so to power up the house will it hurt anything in the generator?
