I am currently doing a little project at my home...
I am installing a 5000W generator,,,I am using a manual change over switch which is already installed. Due to the capacity of the genset I streamlined the load which it will deal with by using a separate panel (120V circuit) to deal with the vital loads (All 220 circuits will not be on the standy circuit including a pump).
My question/concern....Looking at the circuit I see the need for a separate ground for the standby load box, which will prevent and possible surges via feedback to the genset...in the event that the utility returns while on standby.
Is there anyone here that did such a setup....
My set up is basically this:
Utility to Main load box to Changeover swich to 120V LOAD BOX.
Genset to Changeovere switch to 120V LOAD BOX.
My chosen 120V loads are totally independent of the Main load box. My concern is the possibility of feedback as they currently share the same earth/ground.
