Have seen it many times and to my knowledge no. At a jail in Annapolis MD. I sat on a 750KW servicing a bolted pressure switch after 4 hours my whole body hurt, my had was throbing, my ears were rattled and communication was impossible.

My point is it should not be allowed just to protect my hearing and body.

The fuel storage is a different issue.

Unless it creates a hazardous location covered by Art 500-516 no problem.

What kind of fuel? How is venting and filling of the tank done?

Diesel fuel is not considered to create a hazardous location.

Propane would normally be totally enclosed in the tank and present no problem under normal operating conditions.

Gasoline may present problems if venting or fill opening of the tank is in an enclosed area, but if filling and venting is done from outside then there is no hazardous location under normal operating conditions inside.
