445.18 Disconnect Means Required for Generators states that generators shall be equipped with disconnects. It doesn't state where the disconnect needs to be located.

I have a design being constructed where there are 6 generators in parallel. The generators don't have breakers, they are located in the paralleling gear. The generators and switchgear are being supplied as a package.

I believe the breakers in the paralleling gear meet this requirement. Do they?

I do a substantial amount of power plant work, most of the gens are 4160 or higher. The disconnecting means on every one I've ever seen is always in the control house, sometimes hundreds of feet away. The rules might be different for medium voltage, but I doubt it.

I've seen a few 480V gens like yours, where the disconnecting means is in the paralleling gear, the gens are usually over 1000KVA, but I can't see where it would be illegal for any size.

I believe that 445.13 will come into play here because the generator does not have a disconnect built into it.
Be sure to size conductors appropriately.
