generator disconnecting means visibility

I have a facility for which I'm providing an outdoor generator (for life safety and standby loads). It's only 300kW so I'm putting two breakers in the generator enclosure. One with oversized frame to deal with the Article 700 selectivity thing and the other for standby.

I wish to make these devices the service disconnecting means for these two feeders into the building - the building is within sight. I believe there is a requirement that these breakers be visible (e.g. through a window on the generator enclosure).

But this last requirement I'm having trouble finding in the code. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike-article 100 defines the term"within site of"and it means that the specified equipment is visible and not more than 50' away.in your case 700.12(b)(6) and 701.11(b)(5) the specified equipment is your disconnecting means at the generator and it must be visible and not more than 50' away from the building being served, article 100;s definition does not preclude the use of a window on the generator housing. Also keep in mind these same articles refer you back to 225.36 which requires you disconnect to be suitable for use as service equipment.i have been pushing gen. manufactures to comply with 225.36 with no luck, unless your generator housing with the breakers you are installing gives you S.U.S.E. rating you will need to install remote disconnects.
