I get the square D kits at my supply house. Depending on the particular panel, some are as cheap as 15 bucks. That 50 odd dollar one is the one that toggles a main breaker and the first branch breaker in the upper right corner.
Some guy was buying 40 dollar square d panels, installing the 15 dollar flip flop breaker interlock and a couple of 30 amp breakers with hold downs, and selling them on eBay for 200 bucks as a "generator panel". Smart dude. Maybe 75 bucks in real cost.
Yes, I like the interlock kits for genset installs. It is the cheapest way I know about to do a generator install. Even if you need to buy a small panel and transfer some circuits over, it often ends up cheaper than a premade GenTran style panel.
