Generator location

Is there any code that tells how close a generator can be to a boiler or any other type of equipment?? I wanted to install the generator in the boiler room and was worried about the open flame and gas tank. Can someone give me the code section that addresses this?

I don't believe the code covers this specific issue, other than Section 445.10. Things like proper ventilation and maintenance space needs to be provided. The manufacturer may have specifications that cover general and special installation locations. See the other sections as referenced in 445.10.

open flames and generators probably not an issue. But the battery bank that starts the gen set and op0en flames is an issue.

It kind of depends on how it's classified, EPSS Level 1,2, or 3.

Although there may be other codes that would come to play, Chapter 5 of NFPA 110 will be of some help.
