Does anyone have any experience in Sizing a Generator to power a 7.5 HP waterpump?
It is a 240V single phase Baldor motor.
I was unable to see the spec plate due to it's location, but will try to remove things to look at.
It pulled about 27 amps when running and is protected by a 50 amp breaker.
I'm concerned about starting current and the ability of a gas powered generator to overcome it.
Any input here?
Thanks!!

The breaker is not the issue here. 7.5hp, 27fla, 240v is. Get into contact with a good reputable rep. or distributor and provide them with this information. Generator manufactures are asked these questions all of the time. The generator needs to be able to provide the starting current of a given length of time with a minimum amount of voltage drop in order to start and accelerate the motor.
Get the recommendations from horse's mouth themself.
