Hello,

I'm hoping someone can tell me why this won't work, but here goes;

I am planning on being on the road several times this year to the point where after fishing a given lake, I will be trailering up my boat and my partner and I will be driving directly to a tournament at another lake many hours away, giving us basically no time to charge the boat batteries in-between. My boat has four 12V batteries, all charged off a 4-bank charger at 10amps on each bank.

My math tells me that 10A x 12V x 4 Batteries = 480 Watts of power needed to feed the charger, so I am looking at this little guy:

It caps at 6.6A, but that is at 120VAC, since it is a 800/1000W generator. So while I need 40A to charge all four batteries at 12V, I should only need about 4A at 120VAC through the generators 120VAC port if I plug my battery charger into this port - or am I completely missing something here?

In my eyes I cannot find a reason why this generator would not get the job done. Can anyone else shed some light on this?
