Sizing a generator for Municipal Water Treatment plant. Anything I should take into consideration? Will using the load analysis be enough or should we consider any stop start of motors. Most of the site is motors.
 
You have to look at the motors. There can be significantly large voltage and frequency dips when lager motors are started.
One rule of thumb I have read is that the KW of the generator shall be 2 to 2.5 times the HP of the largest motor plus the sums of the horsepower of all of the other motors that will run at the same time. (for this rule of thumb, you just assume that HP = KW)
 
Do you have large soft-starters? Some of the old ones didn't play well with generators that were not oversized.
