Do you fellas see any issue in introducing a 240/120 generator for critical loads into a 208/120 3ph system for single phase items?

thx

~RJ~

What type of critical loads? If you mean life safety loads the generator must comply with NFPA 110 Level 1- an air cooled residential Generac won't be acceptable.

Is the load life safety, legally required or optional? Article 700...

What exactly do they want on standby power? Code lets you size a genny based on actual electric bills.

If there are any 208v loads that would be supplied by the generator, a 240v source would be in violation of
NEC 110.4

If using an automatic transfer switch, it may see the 208 as under voltage, and want to stay on generator. Did one like that about 20 years ago for a refrigerated wine storage room, everything was 120, so no load voltage issues. Dedicated single phase panel. Genercrap generator and transfer switch. Worked fine on that installation.
