I going to install a commercial 150 KVA generator in Florida.
Generator will be placed around 40 feet far of the service.
Shall I install a new grounding rod for grounding the generator frame and gas pipe close to it or can I use the existing grounding electrode conductor to do that?
It will be a not separately derivated system. Thanks a lot

If it's not a separately derived system then you would treat it as a feeder and use the established grounding electrode system. I assume that the transfer switch does not break the neutral conductor?

If its not a seperatly derived system then:
1. no grounding electrodes required at the generator
2. Generator can not have a system bonding jumper installed.

The feeder from the generator must have an Equip Bonding Conductor even if its a 3 phase generator.
