Getting 2v volt dc control voltage from 480v ac

I tried to search the archive but did not find much on the subject. How do most MCCs derive there control voltage? I have been using a step down transformer and small solid state 120v to 24dc transformer. I have seen some all-in-one transformers but they have a high cost. Thank you for any insight.

You can buy DC power supplies with a 480 volt input. I don't know how cheap you want to go but they're typically well under $200 for a small unit.

A quick Google search showed 480 volt 3-phase to 24 volt DC power supplies starting at 60 bucks.

Eta: try automationdirect.com for the supply. Price depends on amperage needed.

I assume you want 24 volts DC and not 2VDC

You're welcome. The first time I did a Google search it did not come up, because I did not include the words "power supply". The second time I searched automationdirect.com was the first listing

Because the Purchasing Department often doesn't actually know what's it's buying, or why. They just know to order the part number they're given.

Part of your problem is referring to a device that converts AC to DC as a transformer. Both electricians and electronics guys call these power supplies. You will have better luck finding them using that term.
