Well it acually wasnt his job at the time, I called his personal phone and he called the breaker guy, on his own accord for me. To me thats beyond his scope of resposibility. Most guys would say too bad for your but I cant help you.

thats what I figured, I tipped him when i went a few days later and another EC friend told me "what for? thats their job now hes gonna expect it when ever he does something special for you" The 200 bucks I gave him was well worth it for me plus it put me in real good with the GM at Hooters. He was thrilled when I made the repairs, and keept thanking me.
How do you feel when you get a tip for going above and beyond?

Edit to add, you could always try Safety Orange or Big Blue...Maybe you could chain several 100A breakers together... :)

I have gotten tips for running films or whatever, and one of my clients gave me an Xmas card this past year with $200 cash in it.

I too am generally uncomfortable with getting tips, but my rule is that I will politely explain that tips are appreciated but I usually don't accept them..but if the client insists I will accept with a sincere thanks. (That doesn't read right, I hope you all get how I'm trying to say this.)

Now as for people who go above and beyond, I generally will offer a tip or in the case of people who I subcontract, I offer cash bonuses. The good will it breeds has paid off for me many times.
