A customer wants to install a flat screen T.V, over the Jacuzzi in the bathroom. The shower is separate, and there is no shower in the Jacuzzi only a faucet to fill the Jacuzzi. Can I install a GFCI above the Jacuzzi?

Re: GFCI above Jaccuzi

I assume that this is a hydromassage bath tub. 406.8 c says a recep. can not be installed in shower or bath tub spaces. So, I guess you could install a GFCI protected recep outside the space & mount the TV above the tub. The space is not defined, but I would say its within the water line up to the ceiling, IMO. Ron

Would this be a surface mounted luminaire? . . . :D

Will the flat screen back side venting and internal electronics tolerate the bath condensate? The normal fog on the mirror will occur on and in the flat screen.

Re: GFCI above Jaccuzi

You can not install a receptacle directly over a tub. Make a plumb line up from the front of the tub and put your receptacle over that line and you are all set.

I think that TV will last about as long as a snowball in hell, but some rich fokes just don't care.I have seen them have an opening into a closet to hold a tv to be viewed from the tub.

kiss,

Ya'know, this one caught my imagination. . .just how can this be done. I've been thinking about it off and on since I read your post.

I think the moisture issue sinks putting the display inside the room.

Framing a fixed pane in the ceiling with a somewhat oversized cavity above that would permit replacement of the display with other make and models of comparable screen size would solve the moisture issue.

Will there be Dolby Digital sound, DVD player, Internet access, etc.?

Re: GFCI above Jaccuzi

Ok I have the answer frame a niche with a fixed panel glass window, place the TV behind the window and there still can be a receptacle in this space it does not encroch the tub plane. Not in the bathroom so not GFCI required and fog will only be on the window :D teach a man to fish and he can eat ,teach a man the internet well you won`t see him for a month ;)
