gfci for sump pump

I would like to get some opinions on using a gfci receptacle for a residential sump pump in a basement. It seems to me if you use a gfci you risk a flooded basement if it trips; if you don't,(single receptacle) and the sump fails you could have a homeowner standing in water without gfci protection. Any comments?

210.8 A 5 exception 2 says a single is ok for dedicated recep that is not accesible or if there is equiptment that is not easily moved. As peter said I would also rather not have it gfci protected.Nuisance trips and a flood or a once in a millon chance of a short that doesn`t trip the breaker and no flood .You decide
