Lol, you have me second guessing myself now but no, that can't be what it was. I would have to kick myself hard if it was. It's one of those small 6 space square d homeline panels. The neutral bar is on top, and I installed the ground bar on the bottom. There is only one large lug on the neutral bar and that is where I landed the feeder neutral, along with the neutrals from the two branch circuits.
I won't be able to see it again till hopefully this weekend when I can do the trenching but I will see if I can replicate the problem and I will report back.
There was a lot of voltage drop on the feeders when I did turn on the hot water heater, down to 80v, so I know that beside only being the two conductors, they are not even able to supply a 1500w resistive load. There may be other wiring issues in the bunkhouse too. If I can get the same thing to happen, I'll de-term all of the other grounds and neutrals and see what happens to start.
