I have to install an ice machine in a theater's concessions area.
I have not been able to find a code ref. stating that I should put it on a GFCI.

I Think it would be a good idea, I just have not found if it's required.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

As far as I can see, no GFCI protection required.

Anything in the instructions?

Very little hardwired equipment is required to be GFCI protected. (Hardwired pool pumps are all that come to mind).

I am a big supporter of GFCIs but if I was hardwiring an ice maker I would not use a GFCI unless asked to.

I checked the install instructions. All it calls for is a "proper ground wire".

Thanks for the replies.

According to "ol timers" Ive worked with including my old boss the very early GFCIs had issues such as that but myself not being in the trade for a thousand years I have never seen a GFCI nuisance trip except by a UHF radio at very close range...Never a motor.
