One of mine probably belongs in a museum - it says something like "Wigginton tester" on it, no mention of SQ-D. The housing isn't ordinary plastic probably Bakalite.

I would personally rather use the wiggy that pulled the 1/2 amp. :)

I don't no the times I've went on trouble shooting jobs and the person would be using a neon or electronic multimeter and tell me they have 120 volts but it still want work.Getting this reading with an open circuit of course. :D

Not knowing maybe there reading is through a solid state switching device or a corroded connection.

I am with you here I have coworkers insisting on using the top of the line digital meters for simple troubleshooting.

I got a call the other day and the person wanted to know why they had 90 VAC on a 277 circuit.

It was of course dead and just reading induction from other live circuit conductors in a long raceway.

They got out a solenoid type tester and found it was really dead. :p

Caught one of my men using his hot stick to do a hot check.Whats real scary is he didn't know why i was upset with him.I carry wiggy and a cheap digital meter,it is plenty accurate for what i need to know. And of course a pluggy with button for gfci.Hot sticks often lie about voltage being there, but they do save my klines.

Want to hear a good one?

A couple weeks ago a friend of my that runs a Trash mailing service called me to check a DC motor on his conveyor said he talked to the tech. over the phone and said he should have around 150 DVC going to the motor.

When I got to the job site he had his LCD multimeter on the motor leads that fed the motor loose and said he had 160 volts, but what was funny he was holding the wires on his test leads with his bare fingers, between his index finger and thumb of each hand. :D

Re: GFCI on load side of AFCI?

DC can really hurt.I got bit often from anything fom about 50 to 500 volts. It burns the skin and stinks. In electronics it real easy to accidently touch a wrong wire, often maybe only a 1/4 inch to get in there to check something. We took precautions like wood floor and only use 1 hand.

Ronald, I'm always amazed by your work, as well as Ed's

For those who have never seen Ronalds expertise, go here

Hi Roger thanks for the compliment, but I think my stuff is crude compared to Eds.

It just started snowing here about an hour ago just got finished getting my wifes car out of my next door neighbors' yard.

You know being a photographer takes a special talent or I just wasn't meant to be a photographer.

I purchased a 4 megapixel camera and never did get the lighting right.Tried several times ended up scanning that photo.

What to heck ever works.

Thanks:Ronald :)

Hello Ronald, you're to modest. :) They've been calling for snow all day here, but none yet.

Asheville has been getting it though.

I'm going to try to get up to the slopes before everything melts.

The better half goes every Wed.
