GFI?A 120v outlet that is in the living room of a single family dwelling that is under a passthrough window or on the backside of a peninsula countertop of a kitchen within 6 ft. of the kitchen sink need to be GFCI protected? Even though it's not in the kitchen.

No J, the one in the living room doesn't require GFCI, since it's not in the kitchen, dinning room, pantry, or breakfast area. Also, it is not to be on the (2 or more) Small Appliance Branch Circuits. However, the peninsula does require GFCI.

But only if it qualifies as serving the peninsula countertop; i.e., within 12" of the surface and less than 6" of overhang.
