Hello All,

The HVAC units on the roof of one of the commercial buildings I take care of has absolutely no 120V recpt. outlets to service the equipment. I do not want to mess with the new rubber roof so I was thinking of sneaking up through the roof curb of the HVAC unit with MC and mounting the GFCI Receptacle on one of the fixed panels (or corner) of the unit. They are very large units their is plenty of room. Thoughts please

Thank You
Mike

Re: Gfci receptacle on HVAC unit

I have a couple thoughts.

I hate poking holes in an intact roof.

I like having power where I need it.

Aside from those two thoughts I'm not really sure what the question is.

Thank you for the fast response, I guess..... I was just a little concerned with fishing thru the roof curb, and wanted the opinions of others in the group. I am sorry I wasted your valuable time with such a vague post. I shall try better next time.

Mike, FWIW we do this all the time and will even pull the receptacle circuit into a box under the disconnect with the HVAC feeder conductors (same conduit) to achieve this with out making an unnecessary penetration.
