need advice on what level of ground fault protection is required with a portable floating fountain (3phase powered @ 208v or 230v)?
I can find plenty of equipment protection devices(7ma to 30ma trip). However, I can not find a reasonably priced and available Human rated devices for 3phase (as I'm being requested to provide). Also, UL943 does not specify 3phase, it says anything under 150v to ground per leg. This is for a portable floating fountain in a commercial application, not a permanent installed fountain. What does the code require I provide? Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the reply raider1. I'll dig into it a little deeper. There appears to be a back and forth thing between articles and what is required for my application. at first look, it appears to fall under an appliance and then it would have some UL requirement as well?
As I look further into 680 there's not much in direction for 3phase GFCI protection. I also looked at 682 and it does not mention 3phase power GFCI requirements?

Thanks for the replies... I did check out the Leviton device i'm really tempted to use it however it is only rated to single phase or split phase application. Why do they want a 3phase fountain? Horsepower size for installation is only available in 3phase motor. Thanks again for the input...

It took some digging, but I found the list of approved contactors. http://stevenengineering.com/tech_support/PDFs/74OEML.pdf

You are correct; they don't have any approved installation for 3 phase. Though it seems pretty clear that the system should work just fine in a 208/120 wye installation, and there are approved three pole contactors; I presume that this has not been a tested combination.

As an untested combination, I would not want to use it if GFCI protection is required.

I'm sure that for suitable $$ a combination could be tested...but that pretty much precludes it being a reasonably priced solution.

You didn't state circuit ampacity or a price cap.

In the meantime...

Check out the last two pages of this Hubbell catalog section.

...and this one, about the middle of the page.

I did recently come across some 3 phase GFCI's while probing the all seeing - all knowing internet - but 3 phase pumps for a fountain???? Wheres this? Vegas?

looks like the Hubbell and airpax (north shore safety) are the same product. Think i'll check out North shore since they probably private label it for Hubbell. Thanks for the great find!!
